The M Club will annually provide monetary funding (minimum
of $1000 each) to a former male and female student athlete
for the purpose of obtaining an advanced degree. This
would be a one year scholarship for the purpose of pursuing
an advanced degree. The scholarship may be renewed for
an additional year based on satisfactory progress toward
graduation. It is anticipated that this amount will be
increased in future years as additional funding is made
available.
Who Was Leonard Rodman?
Leonard Rodman loved the University of Maryland.
Leonard was involved in an enormous amount of philanthropic
work in the community over the years, but he especially
appreciated the University of Maryland because of what
it gave to him. His athletic scholarship in boxing allowed
him to graduate from the University of Maryland in 1943
with a degree in Pharmacy.
For over three decades, Leonard made the Rodman Celebrity
(now Memorial) Golf Tournament a successful fund-raising
and memorable event and his passion for this annual golf
tournament was felt by all of the participants.
Leonard made this golf tournament the #1 fundraising
event of the M Club Foundation in support of the Maryland
student athletes.
Leonard’s legacy of community work and passion
for helping student athletes at the University of Maryland
will now continue through the M Club/Rodman Post Graduate
